Yes this is the easiest application. The ATK version is the best solution to your need.

You’ll just need to cut-off a rectangle in the ceiling and on the attic floor, slide the pre-assembled TEXTILIFT® unit and bolt it to the roof frame members. In case a hopper is needed proceed as for folding  stairs. See this example by a famous DIY company.  The unit is powered by a regular AC plug and a radio remote control.

The platform guiding is provided by a pair of discrete aluminum tracks that can be easily fitted to the closest partition wall.

Yes, but you will then prefer the TWIN or PMR version. Of course ATK can also be used, but for only one user at a time. Whatever the choice, a hopper will be necessary. If the slab is made of wood follow the same procedure as for the attic access. In case the slab is made of concrete, a masonry hopper will be needed so that the lift platform can pass through it. Here is an example on how to do it

Once this is done the TEXTILIFT unit can be installed, the same way as for the attic access

A proof of concept has been built 3 years ago and it is still working perfectly well. But it has not yet all the safety features that are needed now that the MD* risk assessment has been carried out. These features will be developed so that TEXTILIFT complies with it. Once an entrepreneur is involved in the development of the TEXTILIFT project, 1 to 2 years will be needed to implement the solutions we already know. ATK will be the first version on the market, as the safety requirements quite easy to fulfil. In the two following years TWIN and PMR will be developed and produced. By the end of the development,  products will be qualified by a notified body and each single device will be tested before being whipped

*MD : Machinery Directive (Mandatory compliance in Europe for all motorized devices).*

In Europe, TEXTILIFT must comply with the Machinery Directive that will become a Regulation in the coming years. The risk assessment has been carried out successfully with the help of a famous and experienced legal expert in the lift industry and mostly in the MD requirements. All the developments that are needed to reach a full compliance are clearly identified but the main requirements are already fulfilled. For instance the lifting fabric has a safety coefficient of 96 vs a minimum of 12, the inertial break in case of a failure in the cinematic chain has a safety coefficient of 28.

This is not decided yet, but main parts that are sold for decades do not need any maintenance. The PMR version will obviously need a maintenance program as it is covered by a specific regulation

This is still subject to adjustments but at the present time TEXTILIFT sizes are

  • ATK version: Length: 940       Width: 830             Thickness: 200
  • TWIN & PMR Length: 1490     Width: 830             Thickness: 200

The length is the fabric side and it must be perpendicular to the associated partition. Said differently, the small side must be parallel to the partition.

About a minute with the single motor ATK, but less than 45 secs for the TWIN version

No it can’t as the MD limits the course to 3m max

No it can’t, for fire safety issues: and additional stair, that can be retractable, will be needed in addition to TEXTILIFT. That can be the one you have already.as an attic access, or the stairs that give access to the bedrooms.
